BIO

Tianyue Zhong, born in 1994 in China, currently lives and works in Los Angeles, USA. In her body of work focused on painting, Zhong portrays figures and a sense of awareness that exist in a realm between their original form and distortion. Through the interplay of flowing lines, sudden movements, and fleeting shadows on her canvases, Zhong explores the ephemeral aspects encompassing motion, nature, memories, and more. Drawing inspiration from her everyday encounters and seldom-seen historical photographs from 20th-century modern China, she delves into the enigmatic and implicit connections between past events and present experiences. In this exploration, Zhong is intrigued by the intuitive process of transforming photographs into paintings and capturing the elusive essence of experiences that transcend time. Her recent solo exhibition include: Pause, Arise, MOU PROJECTS (Hong Kong, 2023); A Momentary Playground, duo solo exhibition of Jochen Mühlenbrink and Tianyue Zhong, Long Story Short Gallery (Los Angeles, 2022). Selected Group Exhibitions include: Pressing the ear against the ground I could hear the far galloping coming near, curated by Samuele Visentin
(London, 2023); Sprout, Stems Gallery (Belgium, 2023); Breaking News, Long Story Short Gallery (France, 2022).
